I can’t say enough wonderful things about the 1017 Bois D'Arc House! My father spent two years at their facility, and it was truly a blessing for our family. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff welcomed us with warmth and genuine care, making a difficult transition feel so much easier. The team went above and beyond to ensure my dad felt at home. They took the time to learn his quirks, favorite stories, and even his coffee preferences, which meant the world to him. The facility is spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed—perfect for someone who needed a bit of extra support but still wanted independence. The activities kept him engaged, from card games to local outings, and he’d often tell me how much he enjoyed the lively community. What stood out most was the compassion. Whether it was a health concern or just a day when he felt down, the staff was there with kindness and patience. As a daughter, knowing my father was in such capable, caring hands gave me peace of mind I can’t put into words. The regular updates and open communication made me feel like we were all part of the same team, working together for his well-being.The 1017 Bois D'Arc House didn’t just care for my dad—they treated him like family. Those two years were filled with dignity, comfort, and even joy, and I’m forever grateful. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will be cherished, this is it.

We moved mom to Lockhart Assisted Living in May of 2024. One of the reasons we chose them is because it's a small (14 resident) facility. She was living independently and we were concerned about missed medications and meals, as well as her living alone with no help. She now gets all her medications and meals and there is always somebody there to help with something, or to call us, should there be a need. We also had troubles with her not answering or hearing her phone when we called and now, if need be, we can call the staff (all of which we have found to be very nice as well as easy to work with) to check on her. We are much more comfortable, and she enjoys being there and doing things with the other residents.

Bois D’Arc Assisted Living has earned a glowing testimonial from this daughter. The staff really is wonderful; everyone is personable, thoughtful and caring! Communication is excellent, whether in times of illness or everyday management they have readily contacted or answered me in a timely manner. The facility's common areas have a homey and comfortable atmosphere, especially at holidays. And most importantly my mother loves her suite. I appreciate the cleanliness of the facility and how quickly maintenance issues are addressed. Mom and I are both pleased she is living here, it’s been 16 months with cheers for many, many more. I feel fortunate to have found this place!

I will be eternally grateful for the kind respectful care Lockhart Assisted Living gave my mother while she lived at the beautiful well cared for facility. I did extensive research and visits to care facilities around the Austin area, and found that this AL facility gave more bang for their buck, with spacious rooms and truly interactive care 24-7. The staff is dedicated and has worked there for years, which speaks favorably of the working conditions and general attitude of the place. My mother appreciated the home-like setting and the opportunity to be part of the community activities just steps away from the privacy of her suite. If you don’t need a super modern, impersonalized environment, this might be the right fit for your family too.

My mother is so much happier at this assisted living facility than any of the others she’s been at. The environment here feels truly like home, with its warm, welcoming atmosphere and a sense of comfort in every corner. The facility is always impeccably clean and well-kept, creating a safe and inviting space for her. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure she feels cared for and valued. It's such a relief to see her thrive in such a positive and nurturing setting.

This place is great, when you walk in you are entering a home not a facility. I moved my mom here from San Antonio. Mom’s private suite is so comfortable and spacious that she feels at ease entertaining friends and family. She regularly has friends drive from S.A. to visit and maybe even get some famous Lockhart BBQ.The staff is friendly, caring and is always aware of what is happening in the facility. It puts my mind at ease knowing she is in a safe place.Bois D’Arc has activities, events, Birthday parties and Holiday celebrations. At Christmas all friends and family are welcome to a delicious Christmas feast!BEAUTIFUL HOME, CARING STAFF, HOMECOOKING- What more could you ask for and a Great Price!

My mom had lived in two other assisted living facilities in San Marcos before I moved her to Bois D'Arc she asked why we had not moved her there years ago. She felt at home and safe at Bois D'Arc. The staff are loving, caring, and fantastic. The meals are equal to "home cooking", plentiful and nutrious. My only negativity is they are not setup for couples.

My mom lived there for over 8 years, she always received their full loving attention. The staff were awesome, whenever I couldn’t stop in, they kept me posted on how she was doing. From great care, to the Christmas parties, to bingo, and the handing out Halloween candy to neighboring kids, they kept her occupied. A great place full of great people. Even though my mom has passed, I still stop by to check on the staff and residents. Highly recommended for your loved ones!

My Mother has been a resident at Bois D’Arc for a little over a year now. Her apartment is well laid out for safety and function and has plenty of space for all Mom’s favorite things. Housekeeping and laundry are provided by the caring staff on a weekly basis and help is always available when needed. Delicious Home cooked meals are provided daily as well as medication management. My Mother gets much more one on one attention from the loving and caring staff there than she did at her previous, larger assisted living in Austin. She also enjoys the activities like games, crafts and exercise. All the staff are friendly and helpful and truly care about the residents well being. My Mom likes getting outdoors when the weather is nice and they have nice accommodations for that. My Mom is definitely happy living at Bois D’Arc and I can’t imagine a better place for her to be.

A year ago, we needed to find a place quickly for an elderly cousin who was being discharged from rehab. We found Bois D'Arc online and walked in off the street. They were so kind and welcoming and we were able to get him moved in within a few days. We were so grateful for the atmosphere and the care he received. It gives us hope to know there are still places like this around!

  • My mom is really happy at Bois D’Arc Assisted Living Residence. It's a clean place and everybody there seems happy. Everything is great and couldn't be any better. It's also a lot better than the assisted living she was at before Bois D’Arc. They get to go places and shopping. It's just a smaller community and everybody seems to know everybody. They have several activities that my mom seems to be happy with. The staff is great and are really good people. The food is good quality.

  • We as a family would like to let anyone who is considering Bois D'Arc Assisted Living as a home for their loved one to know what a wonderful home it is. The home is just that, "a cozy, comfortable and very well laid out home".

The staff, especially Carol, Essie and Christine have gone above and beyond what I expected to make sure our Mom was well taken care of and loved like family. Excellent resident care, very nice and clean inside and out and transparent in all aspects of their practices and day-in-day out routines.

Mom had been at an assisted living center in Kyle for two years prior and I visited 4 homes in Austin and Buda before choosing it. I interviewed staff, went and ate a meal, and looked the facilities over thoroughly before selecting Mom her new home. All had their pros and cons but I will say you will find Bois D’Arc to be a first rate top notch home for your loved one.

The food is just like home cooked meals should be - fresh and hot. No cold eggs or chili dogs here. Johnny even whips up a homemade apple pie now and then.

The rooms are the just the right size for comfort and convenience and with a little personal touch, it's perfect. The place is like a B & B. We are so grateful to have found Bois D’Arc and we're blessed to have people running it that love and care for their residents so well.

Go visit and stay a while and you will see for yourselves, Bois D’Arc is as good as it gets!

  • Bois D’Arc is such a loving place for my mom.  Mom truly loves the staff and the facility.   We love the intimacy and quietness of a smaller retirement home.  The apartments are clean and spacious.  The staff is very one-on-one and truly loves my mom.  Mom loves the food and they even keep her favorite ice cream in the kitchen.  We enjoy the many family days celebrating the holiday, where Carol throws a big lunch for everyone.

I would recommend Bois D’Arc to anyone.  What a great place in a great little Texas town.

  • Bois D’Arc Assisted Living has been an absolute blessing to my family. My father has lived at Bois D’Arc over 2 years.  The home environment is wonderful. He has his own apartment and is free to come and go as he pleases. The friendly family atmosphere is genuine.  The employees keep him laughing representing both a caregiver and friendship attitude. Our family has peace of mind he is well cared for with just the right amount of monitoring needed. The facility is a beautiful maintained ranch style home, surrounded by big pecan trees.

I personally recommend to my friends and clients when the time for change is needed for a loved one   Bois D’Arc Assisted Living is a good transition in independent living.

  • How wonderful it is to know my father is in such a “home” like environment.  We enjoy participating in the social activities. The staff & director are attentive and caring.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a small care facility with a home like feel

  • Bois D' Arc is a spacious ranch style home complete with a large front porch designed for visiting with family and friends.  It is also home to my Dad and other residents as the premiere senior living facility in Lockhart.

Each resident is treated with both respect and loving care by staff who manage medications, prepare delicious home cooked meals, and meet individual needs for each resident. Every resident becomes part of the "Bois D’Arc Family."  They celebrate birthdays together and enjoy either a favorite pie or cake for their "special day" baked for them by the loving and caring staff.

Staff encourage family to come and share in the lives of their parents or grandparents.  They graciously prepare wonderful parties and meals for special holidays like July Fourth and Christmas to be enjoyed by the resident with their families.

Bois D' Arc is more than a physical address but rather home to my Dad and other seniors who have melded into a caring community that has truly become one big FAMILY!

  • My friend has lived at 1017 Bois D’Arc for almost two years. We are both pleased with the care, living arrangements, food, and services provided. I am confident in their individual care. Their medical, and accounting records help me with keeping current on them. Bois D’Arc’s staff attends to her individual medical and nutritional needs. She is very happy with this as her choice for assisted living.

  • This is the best assisted living I’ve ever seen or visited.  My sister has been here for almost two years and she has received the best care possible.  When I am ready for assisted living, this will be where I want to live.  The house resonates with a loving family atmosphere and feel.

  • Transitioning from independent living to assisted living could not have been easier for all of us kids and our mother.  The family atmosphere you’ll encounter at Bois D’Arc Assisted Living Residence radiates from the workers that are as close to God’s Angels as you could find in any Elder care facility.
